It is often easier to identify the talents of other's than it is to make a list of our own. It is easy to see a friend's talent for music or art or building things. It is easy to say: “She is a great motivator....He is an impressive public speaker....They are good listeners.”
However when we try to identify our own gifts we are sometimes stifled by a false sense of humility. We may be really good at something, but we do not want to be seen as conceded or egotistical. If we are the proverbial “jack of all trades and master of none,” we may underestimate our gifts or see them as insignificant in comparison to others.
But all we have, no matter how much or how little, is a gift from God. St. Paul assures us that there are different gifts, “but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one.” He is really saying that it is not about us -- it is about what God has given us.
The Parish encourages its Parishioners to actively participate, through its many Parish ministries. Although we all face pressure on our time, participating in one or more ministries is a good way to make the Parish a focal point of your life. With your help, our Parish will grow stronger and become even more vibrant, and will continue to serve the needs of our Parishioners and the greater community.
